“I’M A BUSINESS, MAN!”
Teaching voice lessons is how I support myself and my family. I don’t receive vacation, sick days, holidays, health insurance, maternity leave or any kind of paid leave from this job, so literally, every student I teach helps us pay our bills.
The policies listed here give you and me flexibility with our busy schedules. HOWEVER, because this is my professional vocation and my business, I will be strict about them. I have many students that abide by these rules and my time is limited, so I literally can not afford spending time on those who do not.
Payment is due the first week of each month for either 4 or 5 lessons, depending on how many weeks there are in the month.
Bi-monthly, monthly and drop-in lessons are available to advanced students only. Payment for monthly and drop-in lessons are via PayPal only and must be paid 24 hours in advance of the set lesson time.
I accept both cash and personal checks made to “Aliana de la Guardia,” or you may pay online at https://www.paypal.me/dpvoicestudio.
If you have financial constraints and need an alternative payment schedule, such as bi-weekly or per-lesson please let me know. I’m happy to be flexible, but I will be that much more strict with cancellation.
One month must be given before discontinuing lessons for any period of time longer than a month or indefinitely or a 2-lesson ($60) cancellation fee will be charged.
24 hours advance notice must be given if a student cannot attend, a regularly scheduled lesson. NO makeups will be granted without a 24-hour advanced notice. If a student misses or forgets any regularly scheduled lesson, the student forfeits the lesson (i.e. no refund, no reschedule), with few exceptions.
There is no such thing as a “cancelled” lesson, there are only rescheduled lessons (AKA: makeups). Make-up lessons will be rescheduled immediately and must be made-up within 30 days of the missed lesson. I will always be proactive in finding a mutually convenient time for a make-up lesson.
Lessons with substitutes are the same as lessons with me. If I have a gig or rehearsal that takes me out of town and I cannot attend our regularly scheduled lesson or reschedule, I will hire a substitute, who is also an accomplished singer and voice teacher. Students cannot skip lessons with a substitute or they forfeit the lesson.
In the case of snow storms or extreme weather, lessons will be rescheduled.
The D.P. Voice Studio is independent of public school calendars. Lessons are scheduled during certain school holidays (President’s Day, Veteran’s Day, etc…) with the exception of the winter holiday.
If you are on vacation for any holiday during the school year, lessons must be made up.
